HIV Self-Test Helpline

The helpline of the AIDS-Hilfen Austria answers all your questions about the HIV self-test.

Since 2018, CE-certified HIV tests for self-testing may be sold by public pharmacies in Austria and are therefore available in some pharmacies.

These types of HIV self-tests are rapid tests for blood samples that have been specially designed for lay use at home. A result can be expected within 30 minutes. Before using the test, the package insert should be read carefully. It contains detailed instructions on how to perform, read and interpret the test, as well as further recommendations. As additional support for questions regarding the HIV self-test, a helpline has been set up by the AIDS-Hilfen Österreichs:
